If you have a spoiler doesnt that sometimes weigh down the trunk? He used struts rated 10lbs higher than they recommended, so it kinda lifts itself about halfway up before you have to do anything. Current fleet: 1999 BMW e36 M3. Maybe besides breaking they also loose tension. Come to think of it thats how mine went i believe.
The bars in mine don't seem to be warped in any way, and as far as I can tell, they are secured properly, so I don't know what the problem could be. Trunk won't stay open.
