I read Serpent & Dove after reading the ACOTAR series when I needed to get my hands on all of the fantasy romance possible.

Trust me, book friends, when I say that when you're done reading Kingdom of the Wicked, you're going to want a demon prince of your own. However, if the cornicello, their amulets, are brought together or joined, hell would be unleased on the human world. Wish he sometimes disagreed with him loudly. Kingdom of the Wicked is definitely not a book that would appeal to a wide audience, especially the readers who are cynical about the trappings of YA books.

And even when we finally meet Pride, the devil and ruler of Hell, he is a stereotypical devil.
I enjoyed seeing him struggle to accept that his world wasn't what he thought–the Archbishop wasn't the man he thought he was, there were more witches around him than he'd known, his own mother was a witch, and, best of all, he was a witch. As Kingdom of the Wicked is told in first person point of view, it does limit much of what we know about Wrath's personality. The question wasn't offensive in any way, btw. In a world inspired by 17th century France, an ancient war between witches and Church still burns strong. Kingdom of the Wicked is a YA novel with excellent plot and romance, while the sequel—expected to arrive in October this year—is promised to be New Adult with a lot of spice. I want to know what kind of creatures they are and what magic they hold. This book feels a bit more New Adult than YA – the characters act more maturely, they feel like they are in their twenties. Sometimes you may think of witches and into your mind pops the 'witch closing the trap door holding an apple' scene from Snow White. She is almost as cookie cutter as they come if it weren't for the fact that she's quite a down-to-earth character, seemingly determined to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. I hate to always be the hater in the sea of positive reviews, but I have to say that this, my friends, was a mess. Not only was it enemies to lovers, it was a witch and witch hunter love story and witches is like my second favorite thing in a book, right after the hate-to-love. We pick up exactly where we left off at the end of Serpent & Dove, if you have not read that one yet, please do that before reading this review – it contains spoilers for the first book.
