Ruby Wolfe Sampson, 99, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Sunday evening, December 31, 2017, at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee's was born November 15, 1918, in Tazewell, Tennessee, the daughter of Ross Alexander Nevils and Maudie Lee (Muncie) Nevils. In later years he cared for his aged father at the family home. Blatt and Mrs. Emma C. Neif, of Toledo, Ohio; O. and Geo. Her maiden name was Mary Lee Gutridge, and she was born near Clinton, July 11th, 1883, she being a daughter of the late Peter and Sophronia Gutridge. Survivors include five daughters: Laura Gallagher of Clinton, Brenda Morales and her husband Danny Joe of Kansas City, Carla Heflin and her husband Mark of Greenwood, Crystal Sprouse and Jennifer Sprouse, both of Lee's Summit; two sons, Ronald Gallagher of Kearney and Michael Gallagher of Kansas City; two brothers, Leslie and John; one sister, Martha Sharon; six grandchildren, Nathan, Alexis, Lacy, Tre, Jeremy and Madisyn; and two great-grandchildren, Trai Mark and Alysia. Survivors include her husband Shelby Steward Sr. of the home; two sons, Monte Hodge and Shelby Steward Jr., both of Deepwater; one daughter, Sara Hodge of Deepwater; her father Orvil Johnson of Clinton; two brothers, Mike Johnson of California, MO., and Dale Johnson of Leeton; one sister Kay Stephens of Clinton; seven step-grandchildren. Wilburn served in the US Army Signal Corps for three years, returning to resume his farming operation and cattle and hog production.
