This "tranquilizing" effect of prayer enables us to always be sufficient for all things. You can use your God-given authority and declare over your situation. The Son instructed His disciples to pray to the Father. God's "grace" way is not of works - not by works - not of yourself. Failure to understand this truth is causing many believers today to miss out on God's best for their lives, for they erroneously think that God is dealing with them as He dealt with the people under the dispensation of the law. It's God's goodness that leads us to repentance. This message of humility in prayer is also seen in Matthew 6:5-6 where Jesus said, " when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. When we pray to HIM, our prayers pass through the territory of the spiritual wickedness in high places!!!
If you've declared once but haven't seen results, don't give up and keep on declaring, no matter how small you feel your faith is! That's why it was far easier for Elijah to pronounce judgment in the form of no dew/rain for Israel, but far more difficult for him to pray for rain. We can pray for His kingdom to come, but we know that for us, that means we will be raptured, and that God's will regarding the tribulation and the setting up of the kingdom will be fulfilled afterwards.
The truth is that God's only answer to the guilt of sin is the cross-work of Christ, It is our faith resting in the facts of what Christ has accomplished for us at Calvary that settles the sin question and removes the burden of guilt from out shoulders (Romans 4:6-8; Colossians 2:13, 3:13; etc. It is our intelligent, personal communion with our heavenly Father, the means by which we experience an intimate, personal fellowship with Him. Paul set an example of praying for other believers. Notice the passing through of the prayers of the believers, but they can not by no mean influence it. Let's also thank Him for all the blessings and protection we aren't even aware of. And it is this that Paul means is the process of a schoolmaster---starting you out on the kindergarten level with pictures about God, and moving you on until you see the real thing: an encounter with the person of Jesus Christ, the living God. But law will never redeem, will never save.
